Jared Smendik, PsyD, LP

Jared completed his doctoral work at the Michigan School of Psychology and his APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Auburn University’s Student Counseling & Psychological Services. He has experience working with teens, young adults, and adults. Jared worked with individuals to identify interpersonal, behavioral, and psychologist patterns that play out within their everyday lives. Jared works with clients to identify the meaning of these patterns and assists them in finding ways that clients can use this information to transform their understanding of self and its impact on their daily lives.

Jared education at the Michigan School of Professional Psychology was heavily influenced by the work of Clark Moustakas, a founding member of the humanistic psychology movement. The values present within the Humanistic Psychology movement resonate with Jared own core values and manifest within clinical therapy sessions. A heavy focus is placed on effective rapport building, developing collaborative therapeutic alliance with the client, increasing mindfulness, developing actionable behavioral goals, and assisting clients in developing insight on various patterns of personal behaviors. In addition to individual psychotherapy services, Jared also works with SLC clients interested in pursuing psychological evaluations.

Jared also has a passion for providing group therapy services. He plans to soon develop an interpersonal process group for SLC clients, if you are interested in joining such a group, please inform a member of SLC staff.
