Hey all, I’m David! I’m a Limited Licensed Psychologist (aka Masters Limited Psychologist). I bring a friendly, conversational approach to my work with clients. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wayne State University, a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy, and a Master of Science in Psychology from Oakland University, with a focus on social and personality psychology.
While my training included a strong foundation in psychodynamic theory, I also integrate solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral techniques into therapy. I believe it’s important to understand not just why certain patterns or issues occur, but also to equip clients with the practical tools they need to make meaningful changes in their lives. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to work through whatever brings you to therapy.
In addition to my clinical work, I’ve drawn on my experiences as a peer mentor, life coach, and football coach—skills that help me connect with clients and tailor my approach to meet each person’s needs. Building a strong rapport is central to my work, and I aim to create a collaborative, supportive environment where progress can happen.
I primarily work with older adolescents and young adults, though I also have experience with children as young as nine and with older adults. I have a particular interest in sports and performance psychology, but my work extends far beyond that area. I believe that achieving optimal well-being requires caring for both the mind and body, and I often encourage clients to incorporate physical activity into their overall wellness—whether or not they consider themselves athletes. In my view, movement and mental health go hand in hand.
Aside from the clinical talk – I do love trivia, rock music, and a good action or comedy movie. Please feel free to always talk about these things in session.
If you’re looking for help, I would be happy to support you!
